Carina Schmid

Carina Schmid is a social- and behavior-change communication professional with a specialization in entertainment education. She has led award-winning productions from strategy design to creative story development, program implementation and evaluation. Carina has worked on a variety of health, social justice and environmental issues in North and South America, Africa, and Asia, placing emphasis on community members as agents of change.

As a former nurse in her native Germany, Carina enjoys facilitating the training of health-professional trainers, focusing on interpersonal and behavior-change communication. Carina’s workshops feature participatory techniques that ensure every voice in the room is heard.

Having received an MPH from Columbia University, Carina is returning to Columbia as a lecturer on new media and health. Love brought her to New York and continues to inspire adventures with her husband and daughter.
