Dale Rutstein
Dale Rutstein is a specialist in building successful, broad-based social change movements. He played a key role in national lobbying efforts that achieved passage of the Philippines' first juvenile justice system law. He created the "10m2 Meters of Love" campaign which established several hundred breastfeeding rooms across China. Dale's focus in this work has been building inclusive, empowering coalitions linking civil society, government service providers, the private sector, international organizations and national media to collaborate toward bringing about change.
Dale has built an international communication career in the UN and civil society spanning 3 decades with special interest in youth empowerment, violence prevention, infant and young child feeding, social protection and humanitarian response. As a senior UNICEF communication specialist, he has also led effective, ethical fundraising and corporate partnership initiatives.
Dale started professional life as a journalist and filmmaker in the United States and throughout his career has continued to produce high quality films, animation, web videos and podcasts. Dale has worked in Papua New Guinea, Central Asian Republics, Albania, Philippines and China. He has also served as chief of communication for the UNICEF Office of Research - Innocenti, in Florence, Italy, where he now resides.
