Emelie Yonally Phillips

 

Emelie Yonally Phillips is a global health specialist who combines medical anthropology and public health theories to develop qualitative and research-based projects for non-governmental organizations, UN agencies and governmental institutions. 

As a social scientist, Emelie applies research and participatory creative methods to centre community knowledge to strengthen preparedness and response to humanitarian crises in resource-scarce spaces.  She has worked across Southeast Asia and Sub-Sahara Africa on topics such as adolescent nutrition, statelessness, migrant and refugee health, vaccine hesitancy, inclusive education, sexual and reproductive health, and risk communication and community engagement. 

Emelie’s works to ensure that affected populations have access to the information and resources they need for their well-being, and to shape and determine the policies and programs that impact them. She has a Master of Public Health in Global Health from, New York University, and a MA in Medical Anthropology from University of Melbourne.
