Julie Gibson
Julie Gibson is a technologist and social entrepreneur. After an early career in corporate IT she co-founded a social business in Australia, called Hitnet. Hitnet delivers information and services into hard to reach communities.
Engaging people with technology has given her the privilege and opportunity to work with Indigenous Australians in health, education, youth justice and economic development. More recently she’s begun working in International Development in the Pacific, on a Technology for Development project.
Working in different cultural contexts fuels her curiosity and empathy to listen and understand the barriers and challenges people experience in their day to day lives trying to access the digital world. Co-creating solutions is core to finding the most effective ways to bridge the deepening ‘digital divide’.
As CEO of a founding Australian B Corp using business as a force for good, she has strong skills in all business administration and development, building sustainable, collaborative partnerships, management of software, hardware and content development projects, product development and delivery, community co-design and co-creation.
An Australian national, she has a Master of Business and Technology from the University of New South Wales, and attended Stanford University for their Executive Program in Social Entrepreneurship.
