Sara Cameron McBean is a senior social development consultant who develops and manages integrated advocacy and communication programs primarily for UNICEF. As a development researcher, Sara specializes in civil society mobilization and participation. She is an award-winning writer and author of publications on adolescents, children in conflict, child participation, gender and challenges facing children who live in remote locations. From 2018 to 2020, Sara has led the development of national parenting strategies from pregnancy to 18 years with the governments of mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar and UNICEF. Based on a participatory workshop process, she has developed guidance documents, training tools, key messages and costed operational plans. Other recent experience includes developing regional, country and topic specific (girls’ education, nutrition) communication strategies working mainly with UNICEF in East Africa and Central Europe.
