A chunk of UNICEF history
I’m re-posting this at the request of several friends who wanted more information about UNICEF’s history and impact. It’s a speech by UNICEF’s former Deputy Executive Director and USG Kul Gautam. Although it looks through the lens of UNICEF’s collaboration with USAID, it is an inspiring bird’s-eye overview of the Child Survival and Development Revolution and its architect, Jim Grant, Executive Director from 1980-95. It took me back to the time I had the honor of being his speechwriter.
Kul is also a Grant “disciple” and a major development thinker and global children’s advocate in his own right.
Enjoy!
