Now in Reach: A Million Anti-bullying Pledges in Latin America
More than 900 thousand children and adults have publicly taken a pledge against bullying, bringing within reach the unprecedented goal of 1 million pledges set by the Cartoon Network campaign .
Rain Barrel is pleased to continue to play a central role supporting Cartoon Network’s bullying prevention initiative, Basta de bullying, no te quedes callado! (Stop Bullying, Speak up!) in Latin America.
Here is a link to the campaign’s latest public service announcement that recently went on air and online under the umbrella of The Cartoon Movement, Cartoon Network’s pro-social program that we have helped develop over the past five years.
The PSA, in Spanish and Portuguese, evokes the super-powers of some of the network’s most popular cartoon characters to promote a range of materials produced for the campaign, including websites, an app and video game, and a toolkit that offers practical tips to kids, educators and adults to address the problem that affects an estimated 70 per cent of middle- and high-school students in the region.
Cartoon Network Latin America, part of Turner Broadcasting System, reaches 60 million households and has spent tens of millions of dollars on airtime for the Basta campaign.
Campaign partners Plan International and World Vision are working with education authorities and communities in a dozen countries of the region to make sure that the unprecedented online response translates into a social movement to reduce violence and make schools safe and friendly spaces for learning.
